Thoroughbred Horse Stakes Racing Calendar for 2016
Every year thoroughbred horse racing has some exciting Stakes Races that draw the attention of more and more spectators each year. Stakes races calendar start in September of the previous year and ends in June with the Belmont Stakes to complete the Triple Crown “Run for the Roses”. The Breeders’ Cup which is in November is designed to be a year-end championship of the top thoroughbred race horses.
What are Stakes Races you ask?
A Stakes Race is a Thoroughbred Horse Race in the United States or Canada which an owner pays an entry fee also known as a stake for the horse to be entered into the race. Graded Stakes Races are the highest level in racing at any race track. Only the best horses usually compete and offer the best purse money. The Kentucky Derby has been known around the world as “The most exciting 2 minutes in sports”.
