The 2017 Kentucky Derby Prep Races continue while leading up to the actual Kentucky Derby which will be held on May 6, 2017, at Churchill Downs. A tiered point system is put into place for selected races. This point system determines who will qualify for “The Most Exciting 2 Minutes In Sports” the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby.
Points are awarded to the top 4 finishers in each race and the top 20 horses with the most points will earn a spot in the Kentucky Derby. As of February 19, 2017, here are the remaining Kentucky Derby Prep Races.
