2019 Belmont Stakes

The third and final jewel of the Triple Crown Races is up next with the 2019 Belmont Stakes.  It will be held on Saturday, June 8th at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY.

2019 Belmont Stakes

This is the 151st running of the Belmont Stakes Race and 108th time this event has taken place at Belmont Park.  Belmont Stakes has a Purse of $1.5 million and the winner is draped with a blanket of about 700 white carnations in the winner’s circle.  The race is on the dirt track and is for 3-year-old horses.

This is the last race of the Triple Crown season and it certainly has been an unusual one.  In the 2019 Kentucky Derby first time ever a horse was disqualified on an objection. Maximum Security crossed the finish line first but the second place finisher Country House walks away as the 2019 Kentucky Derby Winner.

In the 2019 Preakness Stakes, Bodexpress bucked off jockey John Velazquez at the starting gate.  Yet, Bodexpress ran the track without a jockey and finished in last place.

Will we have another headline-grabbing story at the 2019 Belmont Stakes?

Horse Racing Gifts Ideas

Since there will not be a Triple Crown Winner this year who will you cheer for?  Country House and jockey Flavien Prat won the Kentucky Derby and War of Will and jockey Tyler Gaffalione won the Preakness Stakes. Country House will not be competing in the Belmont Stakes but War of Will is.

Can War of Will and jockey Tyler Gaffalione stretch out over the 1-1/2 mile (12 furlongs) long after winning the Preakness impressively? A couple of familiar faces that skipped the Preakness Race will be gunning for War of Will in the 2019 Belmont Stakes.

  • Tacitus – 3rd in the Kentucky Derby
  • Master Fencer – 6th in the Kentucky Derby
  • Tax – 14th in the Kentucky Derby
  • Spinoff – 18th in the Kentucky Derby
